Ukraine is tolerant of all religious movements that do not pose a threat to the people and the state. There are many people in the country who belong to the Catholic Church. Therefore, President Vladimir Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians and citizens of other countries of the world on Catholic Easter. The head of state released his address in Telegram on the morning of Sunday, April 9.
“I congratulate Ukrainians and all Christians who celebrate Easter today. Celebrating on the front lines and in different cities and villages,” the congratulatory message reads.
The president congratulated Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, allies in the United States, Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Canada, as well as all who celebrate Easter this day in other countries around the world.
“This is the modern world. A world that seeks to live freely. A world that values life, respect and equality for every person. On guard of this world today stands Ukraine. Fighting for its land and fighting for its values,” Zelensky stressed.
The head of state noted that he “shared an iftar with the Muslims of Ukraine two days ago” and that he “will soon congratulate the Jews of Ukraine with the end of Passover, and in a week – everyone who celebrates Passover this year on April 16.”
“We may practice different religions, but we still believe in freedom. We may have different traditions, but there is one common to all, which is to protect our homeland. We celebrate bright holidays on different dates, but one will be the only one for all: for Ukraine and the entire free world.
